Chantal Stigliani
Member of the jury 2027

A pianist, international soloist, and jury member for major international competitions, Chantal Stigliani completed her advanced musical studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. In 1971, her encounter with the renowned pianist Yvonne Lefébure marked a decisive turning point in her career. As her student and friend, Yvonne Lefébure imparted to her the subtleties and “secrets” of interpreting the great French composers with whom she herself had been acquainted, such as Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré, and Paul Dukas. This strong connection to the French school enabled her to win First Prize at the Claude Debussy International Piano Competition in 1975. Although she has mastered the interpretation and style of French music, the true passion of her life remains the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Thus, she tackles the complete *Well-Tempered Clavier* on a modern piano, breaking free from academic dogmas and using, for example, all three pedals to enrich the resonance, harmony, and emotional expression, rather than seeking to imitate the strict touch of a harpsichordist.
In addition, Chantal Stigliani has recorded the complete piano works of Paul Dukas on the Naxos Records label and also enjoys introducing audiences to contemporary or rarely performed works, premiering pieces in France by composers such as Constant Lambert and Walter Piston. Chantal Stigliani performs regularly in recitals (notably at the Salle Gaveau in Paris) and collaborates with orchestras around the world (Europe, the United States, Canada, and Asia), while sharing her expertise through numerous international masterclasses.
Alongside her career as a soloist, Chantal Stigliani is driven by a strong commitment to community service and education, which led her to found Philomuses, an organization she established to promote young talent and foster cross-disciplinary dialogue among musicians, painters, and poets.
